Oregano essential oil supports good immunity and has calming, healing and balancing properties.

It may be useful for calming allergic reactions, and  body aches and pains. Used with menopausal imbalance and to assist healthy digestion.

Absolute Essential Oregano Essential Oil (Organic) has a general cleansing effect that is also good to help clear congestion.

On skin it must be diluted and internal treatments should always be managed by a qualified practitioner. Blends well with Lavender, Rosemary, Bergamot, Cypress, Cedarwood, Tea Tree and Eucalyptus.

Suggestions for Use: 

• Immunity - Burn 3-5 drops in a diffuser with other antiseptic essential oils such as Lemon and Thyme to create an environmental disinfectant against colds, flu and viral infections.
• Muscular Pain - Oregano has a warming action that can be utilised in the treatment of muscular aches and pains. Add 5 drops to 10mls massage base and apply to affected area only. (Not suitable for neat application).
• Nerve Tonic - Energises a tired mind and revives the senses, giving a feeling of well-being. Blend 2-3 drops with other uplifting essential oils for bath or diffuser.

Traditional & Historical Information:

The name Oregano is derived from a Grecian word meaning 'joy of the mountains'. The herb was used in ancient Greece for trauma, wounds, headaches, lung disorders and poisonous bites. In the middle ages, Islamics used it to kill germs and as a food preserver. In 17th Century Britain it was deemed the best cure for a head cold.

Medicinal grade Oregano arises from a unique species of plant which grows wild throughout the world, Origanum vulgare, not generally what you find on your pizza! The highest grade is found in the Mediterranean. It is a natural antiseptic and antioxidant. Additionally, it is reported to have analgesic, anti-viral, carminative, expectorant, fungicidal and antispasmodic properties.

Safety Considerations:

Do not use in pregnancy or on children under 12 years. Use with caution on the skin due to irritant properties. Use in small dosage only. Safe to use with other medication when necessary.
